Defunct Borapansury PHC: NHRC warns Mizoram govt of action under PHR Act

12/2/2013: MCDF Pogodang- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has warned Mizoram govt of action under Protection of Human Rights Act for not responding to MCDF’s complaint of denial of basic medical facilities due to non-activation of the Borapansury Primary Health Centre in CADC, Mizoram. The Borapansury PHC has not functioned for the last 20 years.

Therefore, in its latest order, the NHRC stated, “The report has not been received¬†within the stipulated period. The Commission takes a very serious view and directs its Registry to issue final reminder to the concerned authority calling for the report within four weeks, failing which the Commission shall be constrained to invoke the provisions of Section-13 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.”
